## Associate Consultant (Account Executive Level) – Financial Communications

Teneo has a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and energetic Associate Consultant (Account Executive level) looking to embark on a career in financial communications. An Associate Consultant is responsible for providing the highest-quality research and insight to support our advisory offering to clients.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate interested in learning how to support companies in their effective engagement with media, financial audiences, and broader stakeholders to manage risk and maximise opportunities to build their corporate reputation for the long term. ## About the Role

The successful candidate will work within the TMT sector team within Teneo’s financial communications practice.

In this team, everyone is joined up, hands on, and plays an integral role in supporting clients. Teneo spans industry sectors and works with the leadership (CEO, Chairman, Heads of Communications and Investor Relations) of some of the largest publicly listed and private companies globally. The team helps shape company narratives and influence how major corporate news flow lands with key capital markets audiences (financial media, investors, buy-side, sell-side analysts) and broader stakeholders.

Across Teneo’s UK communications business, the firm currently represents c. 20% of the FTSE 100. Clients include BHP, CVC, KPMG, Mondelez, Kingfisher, Richemont, Shell, Tesco, and Unilever. Work is wide-ranging and includes equity story development, financial calendar communications, media engagement, executive profiling, IPOs, restructurings and M&A transactions, crisis management, and ESG, stewardship and governance issues.

Client corporate reputation is at the heart of the offering. Teneo takes an integrated approach to servicing client needs, drawing on the full breadth of communications. You will work alongside other Teneo teams in Campaigning, Public Affairs, Strategy and Consulting in the London office, providing an opportunity to expand skills and experience across disciplines. You will also collaborate with colleagues in international teams from offices around the world.

Teneo helps clients navigate challenges by protecting and enhancing reputation, and engaging constructively and productively with stakeholders to achieve business objectives.

## Key Responsibilities

  
- Client facing: build working relationships with clients, the media, and other advisors
  
- Draft communications materials (press releases, Q&A, key messages) to support results and other corporate milestones
  
- Deal with the media on behalf of clients and build contact networks
  
- Proactively highlight opportunities and potential areas of concern for clients
  
- Deliver core support, research, and insight for the client team
  
- Monitor media coverage for clients and competitors using a variety of inputs and tools, providing wider context and advising on implications
  
- Monitor sell-side analyst coverage, share price performance, and valuation
  
- Support new business efforts by spotting opportunities, conducting research, and preparing pitch materials

## Essential Skills & Experience

  
- At Associate Consultant level, typically 6 months to 3 years’ experience in a similar environment, potentially within a financial communications agency, or in roles related to public relations/investor relations, the capital markets, financial analysis, management consulting, or the media
  
- Knowledge of and interest in financial communications, investor relations, and capital markets with their relevant audiences, including how this differs from traditional corporate communications
  
- Basic knowledge of general business trends and stock markets, and interest in current affairs
  
- Ability to grasp clients’ business objectives and relevant wider industry dynamics
  
- Strong research and analytical skills
  
- Excellent attention to detail

- Experience working with clients within the Industrials sector is beneficial
  
- Ability to work proactively and flexibly within a team structure
  
- Comfortable working under pressure to tight deadlines with a varied workload
  
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
