## Environmental Conditions

  
- Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) safety standards.
  
- Cleanroom requirements: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair, etc.
  
- Loud noises (equipment/machinery).
  
- Some degree of PPE (personal protective equipment) required, such as safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.
  
- Warehouse environment.

## Compensation

$20.50/hr

## About the Role

You will be based at Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Rochester site, which manufactures essential lab plastics and serves as the manufacturing location for Nalgene® labware and Nalgene® reusable water bottles distributed globally.

As part of the Laboratory Products Division, you will join a team that provides products for laboratories across healthcare, pharmaceuticals, academia, biotechnology, and industrial research, including advanced analytical instruments, essential lab equipment, cold storage, and consumables such as reagents, chemicals, and labware.

## A Day in the Life

Under the direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor, you will be responsible for inspection, assembly, and packing of products. Responsibilities include:

  
- Become familiar with product lines and all related visual defects to identify rejected parts.
  
- Visually inspect bottles retrieved from machines, conveyor lines, or bulk containers and make quality decisions for each part.
  
- Recognize out-of-spec production and advise the supervisor or set-up personnel.
  
- Perform 15-minute inspections of high-volume production.
  
- Set up the work area, where applicable, as a controlled environment; attire may include hats, gloves, beard masks, and coats.
  
- Complete housekeeping responsibilities to maintain a clean environment necessary for the production of media bottles throughout the shift.
  
- Maintain required paperwork levels throughout the shift (e.g., 15-minute inspection form, MQC sheet) related to bottle production.
  
- Work to established QC samples.
  
- Alert the Supervisor/Team Lead or set-up personnel when problems first begin.
  
- Adhere to all company and departmental work and safety rules.
  
- Able to operate machines or operations in the assigned department.

## Requirements

### Education

  
- High school diploma (or equivalent) required.

### Experience

  
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience in manufacturing, operations, production, a lab setting, or a related field.
  
- Preferred: experience in a cGMP environment.

### Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  
- Must possess a high school diploma or a GED.
  
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
  
- Must be able to perform simple math (e.g., adding and subtracting whole numbers).
  
- Must have excellent hand/eye coordination skills and be able to lift and load pallets weighing up to 35 pounds.

## Additional Compensation and Total Rewards Information

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New York is $17.00–$20.75.

This position may also be eligible for a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
