## About the Team and Role

The Ratings & Research Support department is responsible for producing analytical inputs to support Moody’s Ratings and Research function. It also provides support for surveillance requirements and partners with R&R to deliver the necessary support for issuer and investor interactions.

The Ratings Associate (RA) works with Lead Analysts to conduct comprehensive analysis on an assigned portfolio of credit ratings. The RA performs holistic evaluations of credit risk by integrating credit inputs prepared by internal and external parties. In conducting credit analysis for assigned portfolios, transactions, or credit reviews, RAs actively participate in rating committee discussions and collaborate with Lead Analysts to interact with issuers and other market participants. The RA role is integral to Moody’s focus on ratings accuracy, research, and market outreach. The role focuses primarily on one rating group, with the potential for cross-training in other rating groups.

## Skills and Competencies

  
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant working experience
  
- Good understanding of the banking sector and credit market
  
- Solid verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
  
- Fluent in English and Korean; knowledge of other Asian languages is a bonus
  
- Enjoys engaging in teamwork with a positive and constructive attitude; strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  
- Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

## Education

  
- Undergraduate degree required at a minimum; postgraduate (Masters, MBA) and other professional certifications (CPA, CFA) are a bonus

## Responsibilities

### Portfolio Management & Credit Quality

  
- Work with Lead Analysts on day-to-day credit analysis related to ratings, research, presentations, and investor outreach; analytical work may include reviewing financial spreadsheets and charts, analyzing data and financial statements, building and updating financial forecasts, and writing analytical commentary in accordance with Moody’s methodologies
  
- Assist with proprietary models and new financial projections (as applicable), identify trends in data, and apply analytical skills and judgment to form well-reasoned credit conclusions
  
- Develop a working knowledge of credit fundamentals by reviewing components such as transaction documentation, cash flow analysis, or loss allocation rules
  
- Perform analytical tasks related to portfolio reviews and other credit projects
  
- Develop a working knowledge of Moody’s methodologies and credit rating best practices, applying them with guidance from Lead Analysts
  
- Collaborate with Lead Analysts to prepare the first draft of rating committee memos
  
- Develop the ability to understand and identify key factors that affect issuer credit ratings; interpret and analyze financial data and other credit inputs provided by internal and external parties
  
- Monitor credit quality and issuer and/or industry trends by following market developments and relevant news events; analyze issuer reporting (including, in some rating groups, monitoring and attending earnings calls); and engage with issuers directly for follow-up clarification and information
  
- Attend and participate in rating committee meetings, offering analysis and opinion where appropriate; prepare credit estimate analysis used to assess elements of credit risk in certain rated transactions

### Research, Investor Outreach & Market Interaction

  
- Contribute to the first draft of core research (such as credit opinions, issuer and sector comments, press releases, pre-sale, and new issue reports) in collaboration with Lead Analysts
  
- Contribute to research strategy, including idea generation and preliminary drafting, while adhering to Moody’s research standards
  
- Attend investor briefings and issuer meetings as required; help prepare presentation materials in some cases; arrive prepared to engage in discussions
  
- Build positive relationships with issuers by taking initiative to understand the issuer’s business and proactively responding to issuer inquiries

### Credit Administration

  
- Operate applicable ratings and research systems and utilize software specific to the rating group
  
- Apply Moody’s processes, documentation standards, and best practices with sound judgment, adhering to all laws and policies

### Coaching & Guidance

  
- Provide guidance in the delegation of work to the data processing team
  
- Actively manage the workload pipeline to ensure sufficient time for completion; seek guidance from the manager when needed to prioritize work
  
- Provide feedback to the manager on the quality and accuracy of work produced by the data processing team, with constructive and proactive feedback

### Risk Identification and Escalation

  
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to certify relevant key codes as required; complete mandatory training in a timely manner
  
- Demonstrate awareness of Moody’s risk management approach
  
- Increase awareness of cyber risks and avoid vulnerabilities (e.g., phishing malware through email usage)
  
- Ensure work quality is high and free of errors
