The business evolves with macroeconomic conditions, interest rate environments, and FX movements, and GTB comprises four lines: Global Trade Finance (GTF), Corporate Cash Management (CCM), Financial Institutions (FI), and Export and Agency Finance (EAF). **Global Core Trade Finance (GCTF):** - Clients principally include Fortune 500 and 100 companies with head offices located in North America and Europe, as well as key financial institutions. - Develops client-centric solutions to remove or reduce payment risk or facilitate working capital by employing traditional trade finance products (Standby Letters of Credit / Guarantees, Import Letters of Credit, Export Letters of Credit, or Documentary Collections) for domestic and international needs. - Supports strategic foreign banks and their clients’ needs in North America & UK and acts as a trusted partner to mitigate risks in our markets. - Works closely with internal TD partners to provide “One-TD” solutions to clients. ## Job Description This Analyst role is a junior to early-career entry point to a client coverage-focused career in an origination unit of Corporate and Investment Banking. In collaboration with three junior NY team members, the Analyst will support four Trade Finance Relationship Managers (RMs) and will provide direct client management functions. The successful candidate will have a deep intellectual curiosity, a passion for corporate finance and technology, and outstanding interpersonal skills / EQ. The Analyst role requires regular interaction with clients and internal partners. There is a substantial body of product information to learn on the job. It is essential that the candidate proactively seek opportunities for learning and take ownership of development to autonomously drive progress. The Analyst is expected to grow into an independent problem solver, with ambition to develop leadership skills both laterally and vertically. Clients have global footprints, but are largely located in the U.S., Europe, Canada, and Singapore. Progression within the team may require travel to meet and build relationships with clients and team members. **Primary Job Responsibilities**: - Trade Finance Origination - The Analyst is an integral member of a client-focused origination team and will support four RMs to meet client requirements, identify new business opportunities, and assist in execution of trade finance strategy. - Understand the overall TD Securities (TDS) client origination strategy, particularly that of Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB). - Support activity to enhance the client experience and increase revenue by adding new clients and expanding the penetration of trade finance products and services - Familiarize with TDS clients across industries such as Automotives; Communications, Media, and Telecom; Consumer and Retail Products; Diversified Industrials; Financial Institutions; Healthcare; Paper, Packaging, and Building Materials; Technology - Review financial statements and leverage credit tools to understand client requirements - Develop relationships with key internal partners: CIB, GTB, Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Public Finance Bond Desk, Leveraged Finance, Asset Securitization, CIB Credit, Trade Finance / Credit Lending Operations - Manage NY deal pipeline via CRM tools – DealTraxx and internal tracking - Collaborate with GTF colleagues in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, and Singapore - Relationship Development - Prepare presentations and discussion materials / term sheets - Arrange / engage in client calls and prepare call reports - Assist in term sheet negotiations - Collaborate with product partners including Trade Finance Operations (TFO), DCM, Derivatives, FX, Rates, ensuring appropriate presentation contribution - Support deal communication with CIB relationship managers - Assist in Closing New Business - As new business or a transaction is awarded, facilitate all aspects of facility approval from a product perspective, including Know Your Customer (KYC) due diligence and onboarding - Assist RMs with review and negotiation of facility documentation with clients - Assist with instrument issuance - Assist in execution of trade finance strategy **Job Requirements** - 1+ years of experience (background in Credit Management, Consulting, Corporate Banking is an asset) - Familiarity with corporate financial statements (credit analysis is an asset) - Strong analytical and quantitative skills - Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote - Clear and effective written and verbal communication - High level of self-motivation and initiative - Global financial market and political awareness - Excellent organization, collaboration, and prioritization skills to manage deliverables - Ability to manage continuous reporting and presentation requests - Strong interpersonal skills and adaptable presentation style - Ability to travel in North America - Other valuable factors: - Familiarity with credit facility documentation - Understanding of corporate lending - Client-facing experience - Understanding of trade products and governing rules, or willingness to learn ## Who We Are TD Securities offers a wide range of capital markets products and services to corporate, government, and institutional clients, focusing on innovation, execution, and experience.
