The team can invest across the capital structure to provide flexible and creative solutions that solve for complexity. Launched in 2020, the Corporate and Asset Finance group is one of the fastest growing businesses at Nomura with +$4 billion in completed transaction volume. ## Role Description The candidate will learn from an experienced team across the group’s verticals, including corporate direct lending and special situations, lender/specialty finance, and contract monetization. Candidates will be instrumental in all aspects of the deal process—from initial screening and diligence through underwriting to closing. The role involves collaborating with senior team members, borrowers, sponsors, third-party advisors, and internal stakeholders. The candidate should possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, the ability to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment, and a high level of integrity and accountability. ## Responsibilities - Manage a full range of deal underwriting work streams and due diligence on new opportunities, including financial modeling, primary and secondary research, and other company or industry-specific analysis - Produce detailed investment materials with accompanying analysis and memoranda - Participate in diligence sessions with sponsors, management teams, and consultants - Monitor portfolio risk and borrower performance - Perform other duties and special projects as needed - Support up to 2 years of relevant experience in direct lending, opportunistic credit, private equity, leveraged finance, restructuring, or investment banking - Support syndication efforts, including creating marketing materials, data room, and diligence for potential investors - Assist with the execution of transactions, including preparation of detailed investment memoranda and financial modeling - Demonstrate extraordinarily high level of focus and attention to detail - Exhibit a strong work ethic with a self-starting attitude - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint - Strong interpersonal communication skills ## Qualifications & Requirements - Up to 2 years of relevant experience in direct lending, opportunistic credit, private equity, leveraged finance, restructuring, or investment banking - Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills - Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment - High level of integrity and accountability - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint ## Nomura Competencies - Explore Insights & Vision: Identify underlying causes of problems and define a clear direction for the future. - Making Strategic Decisions: Evaluate options and prioritize actions or recommendations. - Inspire Entrepreneurship in People: Motivate the team to enhance productivity through effective communication of ideas. - Elevate Organizational Capability: Promote knowledge sharing and professional development to boost team productivity. - Inclusion: Foster a culture of inclusion and psychological safety and cultivate a risk-aware culture (Challenge, Escalate, and Respect). ## Compensation & Benefits Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including market location, title and duties, job-related knowledge and advanced degrees, skills, and experience.
