The Role

In this role, you’ll act as a high-end service specialist and a guide to digital banking. You aren’t just serving a community; you’re building one by bringing Capital One’s mission to life within a vibrant, modern community hub.

What You’ll Actually Do

  • Be a Natural Connector: Proactively engage with guests in a high-energy environment that serves as both a community space and a local coffee shop. Note: You are a banking guide, not a barista—you won’t be serving coffee.
  • Serve as a Brand Advocate: Share the value of Capital One’s products and services through genuine conversation rather than transactions. The role focuses on guest experience with no traditional sales quotas or high-pressure tactics; success is measured by connection quality, not a quota.
  • Simplify the Complex: Guide customers through our digital ecosystem, helping them master mobile tools and troubleshoot tech challenges with ease.
  • Facilitate Purposeful Impact: Host and support local events that promote financial health. Act as a brand steward within Capital One’s programs and community partnerships to ensure impact is professional, focused, and effective.
  • Advocate & Problem-Solve: Advocate for customers, solve problems, and own issue resolution in line with compliance and regulatory requirements. Handling complaints and escalations is important, and you’ll be supported with tools and training to handle complex situations.
  • Act as a Culture Carrier: Foster a supportive, inclusive environment where every guest feels welcome. Be a team player with attention to detail, a positive attitude, and the ability to adapt to change.
  • Stay Agile & Engaged: This isn’t a traditional “behind-the-desk” banking role. You’ll be on the move throughout the Café to connect with the community and support the guest experience flow.

Essential Functions (Included, but not limited to)

  • Support surrounding Cafés as needed within a 50-mile radius, with occasional opportunities to assist other locations in the broader region.
  • Flexible schedule availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays; hours and days may change.
  • Ability to adapt to business-driven schedule changes with reasonable notice.
  • Attend all required training sessions, which may occur on a schedule different from the primary shift.
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds and standing/moving for extended periods.
  • Regular and consistent attendance.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
  • At least 1 year of retail, sales, or customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree
  • 2+ years of banking experience
  • 2+ years of retail or customer-facing experience
  • Proficient in G-Suite
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Salary information applies to candidates hired to work in those locations and reflects the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on hours worked.

New York, NY: $59,800 - $64,584 for Cafe Ambassador

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range for that location. The actual salary offered will be documented in the offer letter.
