Posted 2026-05-08; applications close 2026-07-14. **Apply**: https://apply.careers.microsoft.com/careers/job/1970393556864609 Posted 1mo ago. ## Role details ## Overview As a Microsoft Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician (DIAT), you will perform cycle audits, execute incoming/outgoing deliveries, coordinate security escorts for third-party vendors, and document inbound and outbound deliveries as instructed by management. You will initiate warranty claims and process returns on failed equipment. This opportunity will allow you to build working knowledge of inventory management principles, warranty process management, data bearing device destruction, and advance your career in the process. The base location for this role is Acton, North West London. ## Responsibilities - Perform assigned tasks and escalate issues during high-volume work activity or escalation-based situations. - Coordinate with suppliers to initiate warranty claims and process failed vendor hardware devices. This includes information processing, packaging, shipment, and receipt of returns for Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) devices following all SLAs related to the warranty process. - Utilize process knowledge and judgment to complete tasks with minimal direct supervision. - Maintain a strong focus on understanding the impact of work when completing tickets and IAM (Inventory and Asset Management) tasks. - Maintain and keep up-to-date accurate information within inventory management systems (e.g., configuration management databases, asset management repositories). - Ensure detailed physical inventory tracking and staging. - Assist in reconciling and reporting inventory discrepancies. - Perform destruction of data-bearing devices (DBD) following all SLAs and Microsoft policies as necessary. - Notify management about stock shortages and escalate issues as needed. - Comply with security and data management policies. - Embody our culture and values in daily work. ## Qualifications ### Required Qualifications - High School Diploma AND experience in warehouse/supply chain in an information technology (IT) environment, inventory management, retail, warehouse management, or a related field. OR equivalent experience. - You may be required to travel between sites, so a valid driver’s license is required. **Background Check Requirements:** Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, the Microsoft Cloud Background Check, which must be passed upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. **Preferred Qualifications:** - Experience in warehouse/supply chain within an IT environment, IT operations, and/or logistics, including operating heavy-moving equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jacks, chassis lifts) for a large corporation, or equivalent experience. Logistics Technician ATR-B - The typical base pay range for this role in the United Kingdom is £31,300.00 – £38,000.00 per year. Some roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation. Logistics Technician ATR-C - The typical base pay range for this role in the United Kingdom is £31,600.00 – £42,600.00 per year. Some roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
