## Summary of Role

This role is intended for our Malta site Fab 8, a 300mm leading-edge semiconductor manufacturing facility. As a Maintenance Technician Apprentice, you will monitor, sustain, and improve the equipment and/or processes in the assigned area, working in partnership with production team members and area engineers. Maintenance Technicians monitor equipment performance, schedule, perform preventative and corrective maintenance on assigned tool sets, and apply mechanical, electronic, and PC/software skills to troubleshoot and resolve equipment-related issues. Clear communication of equipment status and area updates to the Lead Tech and/or Engineer is essential.

Maintenance Technician Apprentices will be required to complete four college courses through HVCC during the 18-24 month apprenticeship, at no cost to the employee. Upon successful completion of required courses, positive performance reviews, and 2,700 hours of on-the-job training, Apprentices will be eligible for promotion to a Level 2 Maintenance Technician with a corresponding pay adjustment (prior credits will be considered).

## Essential Functions — Skills

  
- Follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks
  
- Work safely and responsibly in line with all FAB8 EHS&S policies
  
- Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  
- Support and engage in training activities
  
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment as required by operating procedures
  
- Monitor, control, and test semiconductor equipment for manufacturing readiness
  
- Recover equipment from process interruptions, complete event documentation, and communicate end-of-shift pass-downs
  
- Effectively use time management to prioritize and plan daily work and scheduled activities

## Essential Functions — Physical Capacity Demands

  
- Ability to work in a standing position for more than 85% of a 12-hour shift (excluding breaks)
  
- Ability to walk on uneven surfaces for more than 85% of a 12-hour shift
  
- Ability to lift, pull, and/or carry at least 50 pounds periodically throughout the shift
  
- Able to lift equipment and tools when performing maintenance activities (above 50 lbs requires a two-person lift)
  
- Ability to manually manipulate hand tools and small hardware for more than 85% of a 12-hour shift
  
- Ability to perform activities that include climbing vertical ladders, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and crawling for more than 85% of a 12-hour shift
  
- Ability to utilize a computer (typing, visual screen time) for more than 85% of a 12-hour shift
  
- Ability to work in a cleanroom environment per semiconductor protocol/requirements
  
- Able to wear cleanroom clothing for a minimum of 10 hours a day
  
- Able to wear upgraded PPE when required (safety shoes, safety glasses, chemical splash apron & gloves, full-face shield)
  
- Able to comply with OSHA & NIOSH CFR 29 1910.134 (clean shaven) to don and work in an N95 mask or other air filtering devices, or full-face respirator for extended periods

## Preferred Functions — Skills

  
- Review Statistical Process Control charts for process quality and respond to Out-of-Control conditions
  
- Develop and enhance operating procedures
  
- Participate in continuous improvement projects, learning, and skills development
  
- Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, and electrical diagrams
  
- Experience with basic hand tools and quality workmanship principles
  
- Experience with troubleshooting and structured problem-solving techniques
  
- Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems

## Other Responsibilities

  
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs

## Required Qualifications

  
- Education: High School Degree (or equivalent)
  
- Experience: None required
  
- Some relevant experience welcomed (automotive repair, BOCES, HVAC, aviation, cable installation, computer routing, telecommunications, electrical work, etc.)
  
- Travel requirements: Minimal travel
  
- Language fluency: English (written and verbal)
  
- Basic reading and writing comprehension skills
  
- Basic computer navigation skills (Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook)
  
- Able to work in a cleanroom environment wearing required cleanroom clothing per semiconductor protocol/requirements
  
- Able to work in a standing position for an extended period of time (during a 12-hour shift)
  
- Able to lift equipment and tools when performing maintenance activities (above 50 lbs requires a two-person lift)
  
- Flexible and willing to work any shift (3-4 days alternating weeks during day or night shift)

## Alternating Week Shift Schedules

  
- Shift Week 1 Week 2
  
- A (days) Week 1: Sunday to Wednesday 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM; Week 2: Sunday to Tuesday 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM
  
- C (days) Week 1: Thursday to Saturday 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM; Week 2: Wednesday to Saturday 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM

**Expected Salary Range**

$36,200.00 - $59,200.00

The exact salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and location.
