Essential Responsibilities:
- Implements tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), receiving guidance from more experienced staff
- Follows well-established internal conventions and standard procedures
- Understands internal standards and processes and applies them to make technical decisions
- Collaborates with peers, managers, and project leads to gain understanding of tasks and review solutions
- May contribute to code and design reviews
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR any equivalent combination of education and experience
What You’ll Bring
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 1+ years of backend development experience with a strong foundation in programming concepts and data structures
Technical Proficiency
- Proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Python, Ruby on Rails)
- Proficiency in Java EE technologies (Java, application servers, servlet containers, JMS, JPA, Spring MVC, Hibernate)
- Strong understanding of web services and SOA standards (REST, OAuth, JSON) in Java environments
- Experience with ORM tools (e.g., Hibernate) in Java-based solutions
- Experience with databases (SQL, NoSQL)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale, high-performance systems
- Knowledge of the payment processing industry and relevant regulations
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Contributions to open-source projects

Your Day-to-Day
As a Software Engineer, Backend Java you'll contribute to building robust backend systems. You'll collaborate closely with experienced engineers to learn and grow your skills.
- Develop and maintain backend components
- Write clean, efficient code adhering to coding standards
- Participate in code reviews and provide feedback
What You Need to Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- 1+ years of backend development experience with a strong foundation in programming concepts and data structures
- Proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Python, Ruby on Rails)

Compensation & Location
The base pay for this role depends on location and experience. The expected pay range for this role by location is listed below.
Primary Location | Pay Range: New York City, New York | $116,500.00 – $173,250.00 annually
Additional Location(s) | Pay Range: No other locations are assigned to this requisition currently.
Additional compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentives where applicable.
