Assistant Engineer - Mechanical (Submarine)

Responsibilities

• Complete daily hands-on maintenance tasks and perform checks to ensure all tasks assigned by Engineers or Supervisors are completed according to the required services and safety standards, adhering to SUBSAFE procedures and requirements.
• Perform hands-on work in troubleshooting and rectification of mechanical or marine diesel defects through removal, service, installation and conduct system tightness tests.
• Perform joint inspection and acceptance with ship representatives and coordinate with ship crews to perform function tests of ship systems.
• Carry out replenishment of submarine supplies such as topping up gases, fuel oil, lubricating oil and hydraulic oil.
• Coach, supervise and guide a team of junior technicians to carry out planned and corrective maintenance onboard the submarines.
• Perform logistical support such as lifting of equipment and components and maintenance of workshop tools and equipment.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures such as the Permit to Work (PTW) system to ensure safety onboard the submarine.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Preferably with at least 3 years of relevant working experience.
• Candidates with no prior experience are welcome as both internal and external training will be provided.
• Possess a positive attitude and willingness to learn and improve.
• Able to use mechanical IMTE such as torque wrench, pressure gauges, internal and external micrometer, and vernier caliper.
• Able to use mechanical tools and equipment such as spanner, ratchet wrench, lever block and chain block (chain hoist).
• Able to read and interpret technical documents such as 2D assembly drawings and schematic diagrams.
• Ability to work under pressure and work as a team.
• Able to perform hands-on work and overtime during weekdays and weekends due to work exigencies.
• Physically fit to perform demanding tasks in tight and confined spaces, shipyard and outdoor environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel.
• Willing to work in the Changi area.

Working Hours: 7:45am – 5:00pm
