Purpose and objectives

As an Associate AI Developer / AI Developer, you will work with a team of dedicated experts including AI scientists, data engineers, dev-ops engineers, and architects to build best-in-class AI products. You will work against fixed timelines, and success will be measured by delivering solutions that match the performance of top-tier artificial intelligence systems.

Note: Applicants with relevant experience may be considered for the AI Developer role.

Your tasks include

• Push the frontiers of what is possible in artificial intelligence to create new solutions.
• Explore, understand, and implement recent technologies and approaches for cloud applications and data pipelines.
• Handle multi-terabyte data sets in scale-up and scale-out environments.
• Strive for automation and cloud operation readiness.
• Understand business processes that create and consume data to select the best approaches, evaluate performance, and assess business relevance.
• Support machine learning research/project teams with all aspects around data.
• Build scalable and reusable data processing pipelines.
• Achieve excellence in results quality and system scalability through continuous evaluation, analysis, and refinement of the implementation.
• Work closely with the team, customers, and partners to understand business and user requirements and derive appropriate application development concepts.
• Perform quality assurance tasks and solve complex integration issues.
• Work effectively in global teams across different time zones.
• Immerse yourself quickly into new topics, terminology, and development tasks.

What you bring

Required

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 0 to 3 years of working experience as a software developer, preferably in AI-focused cloud application development.
• Solid foundation in computer science with strong competencies in algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming, design patterns, multi-threaded programming, and software design principles.
• Hands-on knowledge in at least two server/client-side programming languages (e.g., Java, Scala, Go, Python, Node.js, C++).
• Exposure to Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
• Hands-on knowledge of frameworks such as Spring, Play, AngularJS, Flask, etc.
• Fundamental knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud-based application development using platforms such as SAP Business Technology Platform, AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
• Familiar with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Strong desire to overcome obstacles and deliver value to SAP's customers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Optional

• Hands-on experience in Shell Scripting, PowerShell.
• Excellent web UI programming skills (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS).
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks (e.g., D3.js, jQuery, RequireJS, KnockoutJS, AngularJS, NodeJS).
• Knowledge of UI design patterns and interactions.
• Operational knowledge of Linux distributions (Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS, CoreOS).
• Exposure to deployment and container orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Puppet, Chef, Ansible.
• Knowledge of machine learning fundamentals.

SAP Labs Singapore plans to expand significantly and become the Embedded Artificial Hub for SAP, leveraging core competencies across current teams. The Artificial Intelligence team at SAP Labs Singapore comprises experienced professionals tackling challenges posed by SAP customers. Based in Singapore, you will work on breakthrough projects addressing real-world problems and engage with SAP experts worldwide as part of the global product engineering team.
