This is an exciting opportunity to join EY’s Global Grants, Credits & Incentives team based in our central London office, alongside other STEM professionals and tax/accounting colleagues. You will work with clients ranging from owner-managed businesses to multinational groups at the forefront of technology development and IT exploration. As a Software Consultant, you will participate in technical discussions with senior and lead technical personnel within our client network, helping to identify the scientific and technological aspects of their Research & Development (R&D) projects that qualify for R&D tax relief. You will write and review reports on clients’ R&D projects and engage in extensive client communication. You may also support business development opportunities and collaborate with colleagues across the EY network. R&D tax reliefs are a key mechanism used by the UK government to attract innovative businesses and encourage investment in R&D. ## Your key responsibilities - Work as an effective member of varied project teams, collaborating with colleagues of different skill sets and communicating clearly - Write and review technical project reports highlighting the key technical factors of client projects to support R&D tax claims - Interact with clients' senior technical and software staff to understand projects and identify how aspects meet the R&D Guidelines - Apply advanced problem-solving and critical thinking to project execution and delivery - Build and maintain relationships with clients to provide high levels of service - Deliver high-quality advice and solutions while managing risk and protecting the firm’s reputation - Adapt and apply existing knowledge to different sectors and build core capabilities ## Skills and attributes for success - Strong interest in software technologies and programming languages - Experience dealing with technological challenges in industry, such as software design limitations and the development or improvement of systems or applications - Ability to understand new software technologies and concepts quickly and discuss them in depth - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to produce concise summaries for technical audiences - High attention to detail and first-time accuracy - Interest in project and company finances and the application of tax treatment ## To qualify for the role, you must have - Degree qualified – Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field - Computer Science or IT industry experience (1+ years) - Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a collaborative approach - Flexibility to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment ## What we look for - Team player able to integrate quickly with new teams - Outgoing with strong relationship-building skills and a commitment to delivering quality outputs ## What we offer We offer a competitive remuneration package rewarding individual and team performance.
