Overview
Working as part of a wider global Legal department, the successful candidate will join the global Qlik privacy team (currently 3 lawyers). Reporting to Senior Counsel, Privacy, this role will involve working on cutting-edge technology and legal (privacy, information security and AI) issues, critical for Qlik’s compliance and its Go-To-Market.
The role may be fully remote for the right candidate, though is ideally performed 3 days per week remote and 2 days in the office (London Bank or Winnersh).
Duties
Privacy Program Management
- Be the point of contact for maintaining Qlik’s privacy program assets, including knowledge resources and program assets (e.g., ROPA, notices and policies).
- Monitor the privacy inbox, addressing and managing internal and external queries.
- Assist privacy colleagues on large projects, providing organizational and other support (e.g., research).
Supplier Management
- Be the point of contact for supplier privacy reviews, utilizing the OneTrust Third-Party Risk platform.
- Partner with the business to conduct privacy impact assessments and provide implementation advice (e.g., data access and retention), particularly regarding supplier SaaS solutions.
- Negotiate supplier DPAs.
Business Partnering
Partner across the business to deliver practical privacy advice and training.
Compliance
- Assist the privacy team in monitoring emerging privacy, information security (e.g., NIS 2) and AI (e.g., EU AI Act) laws worldwide; conduct gap analyses and implement required changes with the business.
- Identify privacy risk areas within the business and drive projects to minimise these, including data access and retention.
- Lead on or assist with regular privacy tasks, such as transfer impact assessments.
Other
- Assist other legal team members as needed, such as with broader vendor legal issues and customer legal matters.
- Liaise with Information Security, such as on investigations.
- Conduct privacy audits and address follow-ups to ensure best practice.
- Assist with data subject access requests and data breach procedures.
- Handle ad-hoc projects relating to privacy, information security and AI laws.
Skills & Experience
Required
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Thorough understanding of the EU GDPR.
- 1+ year’s experience advising on privacy matters and assisting in managing a privacy program.
- A pragmatic approach, turning advice into practical solutions.
- A proactive approach to identifying risk areas and driving projects to mitigate them.
- Willingness to expand beyond GDPR to advise on international privacy laws, AI, and information security laws.
- Good communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Good team player.
Preferred
- Familiarity with the OneTrust Third-Party Risk platform.
- Exposure to international privacy laws, information security laws and AI laws.
- In-house international tech company experience.
- An interest in technology, particularly SaaS and AI.
- Foreign language capability.
