Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Key Responsibilities

  • Office hours duty in data center operations
  • Capacity landing and decommissioning according to process guidelines
  • Run rack-to-rack cabling, including fiber and copper cables, according to Amazon standards
  • Rack cabling coordination and quality control
  • Innovate and contribute from day-to-day operation experiences to improve operation efficiency
  • Maintain proper media operations according to process guidelines
  • Site management and maintain tidiness in operation areas
  • Assist hardware break-fix and troubleshooting according to process guidelines

Day in the Life

You will experience a typical day in Amazon Data Center Operations (DCO):

  • Take ownership of technical issues, utilizing cross-team collaboration when needed to drive resolution
  • Strive for operational excellence and contribute improvement ideas
  • Use ticket system to prioritize and track installation, diagnosis, and hardware or network issues
  • Maintain service level agreements through rapid response to emergency issues

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment
  • 1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
  • 1+ years of data center experience
  • Experience with fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment, and troubleshooting methodologies
  • Experience summarizing and communicating important data
