Program Overview

The Jefferies Equities Sales & Trading Summer Analyst Program provides a unique opportunity to gain insight into a global, client-focused investment bank and to experience an entrepreneurial environment where employees have the opportunity to make an immediate impact and are rewarded for performance. You’ll be exposed to Jefferies’ full range of products and leading industry expertise. Our lean team structure offers hands-on experience and helps you develop lasting personal and professional relationships with peers and senior professionals.

Summer Analysts are encouraged to think creatively, offer input, and add value from day one. They are expected to pursue projects with excellence, collaboration, and the highest levels of integrity. The program emphasizes real-life on-the-job learning, with colleagues serving as instructors and mentors. Analysts will review their professional development and receive detailed feedback at various stages of the program, including at the end of the term.

Applicants should be in their penultimate year of university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2026 to July 2027.

Jefferies Equities Sales & Trading

Our Equities department provides liquidity, execution, and underwriting expertise. Summer Interns will have opportunities to collaborate across divisions of our Sales & Trading platform, including Research Sales, Derivatives, Prime Brokerage, Capital Introductions, Electronic Trading, and Desk Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor market conditions and contribute to trade ideas and execution decisions.
• Support pre-trade and post-trade processes, including trade booking and reconciliation.
• Shadow senior traders to learn execution strategies across asset classes.
• Build and maintain tools to monitor client portfolios and trading activity.
• Use programming or analytical skills (e.g., Excel VBA, Python) to automate repetitive desk tasks.
• Communicate effectively across time zones to ensure smooth coordination and information flow.
• Stay updated on financial markets, trading products, and regulatory developments.
• Take initiative to deepen understanding of trading systems, client needs, and market dynamics.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

• Strong academic background with a minimum 3.6 GPA or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with VBA, Python, or other scripting languages is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and collaborative attitude.
• Proactive in seeking learning opportunities and feedback; willingness to engage with mentors and resources to deepen market knowledge.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Fluency in Mandarin is desirable, with knowledge of other Asian languages considered an advantage.
