## Position: Equity Research Associate – Energy (Refining Focus)

**Position Summary:**

Jefferies is seeking an Equity Research Associate for its Energy Equity Research team, covering approximately 40 stocks. The associate will analyze industry macro trends and company financials under the direction of senior team members, with a focus on Jefferies’ refining coverage. Responsibilities include managing industry databases, updating presentations, maintaining financial models, and contributing to the North American Energy Weekly report. The role also includes updating the Jefferies refining price deck and refining weekly report, supporting the team in producing earnings reports, company notes, monthly/weekly publications, and initiation reports. Over time, the associate will communicate recommendations to sales, trading, and clients.

## Responsibilities

  
- Provide associate-level coverage of energy stocks, with a focus on U.S. refiners.
  
- Build and maintain detailed company models and industry databases, including the Jefferies refining price deck.
  
- Contribute to recurring energy reports, including the North American Energy Weekly and Refining Weekly reports.
  
- Write first-look notes, contribute to longer thematic reports and company initiation reports.
  
- Field questions and communicate with sales and/or clients.
  
- Maintain relationships with company IR teams.

## Qualifications

  
- Strong academic background in accounting, finance, or economics with a Bachelor's Degree.
  
- 1–2 years of financial services experience, with a preference for research experience.
  
- Experience in oil & gas (especially refining) is advantageous.
  
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills are critical.
  
- Experience using FactSet and/or Bloomberg.
  
- Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail.
  
- Demonstrated ability to work in a time-sensitive environment.
  
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
  
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  
- CFA or progression toward CFA preferred.

FINRA Series 63, 86, and 87 highly preferred (required within 5 months of hire).

Primary Location: Full Time. Salary Range: $100,000 – $120,000.
