We are seeking a highly talented individual to add significant value to our equity research team. This role involves working closely with senior research professionals to assist in preparing and executing analyses of specific areas within SMID Biopharmaceuticals & Animal Health. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of intellectual curiosity, a passion for biotech innovation, Animal Health, and the stock market, and the ability to be a strong team player in a fast-paced environment. Previous sell-side associate experience is preferred.

## Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  
- Formulate investment recommendations based on fundamental analysis, valuation, and risk assessment of individual companies
  
- Leverage scientific and financial expertise in writing research reports on companies for distribution to the Leerink sales force and institutional clients
  
- Collect and analyze data (e.g., scientific papers, clinical trial data) related to biopharma and Animal Health
  
- Interview company executives and medical/industry experts to develop and maintain sources of information for analyses
  
- Build, update, and maintain financial models to inform investment recommendations
  
- Keep up to date on sector-relevant market news and medical meeting presentations
  
- Answer inquiries from firm personnel and external clients
  
- Support senior equity research professionals by attending events of special interest (e.g., medical conferences, investor meetings)

## Experience and Qualifications

  
- Hard-working self-starter with a passion for leveraging medical/scientific background and financial modeling skills toward equity research
  
- Medical or scientific background: Minimum BS or MS level required
  
- Financial background strongly preferred: 1+ years of sell-side associate experience preferred, with relevant licensing exams (SIE, Series 86/87, Series 63) completed
  
- Industry/business experience is a plus: 1+ years at a leading consulting firm, or 1+ years in a business development or corporate strategy role at a pharmaceutical firm
  
- Familiarity with the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, including clinical development, regulatory affairs, business development, and commercialization
  
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  
- Ability to search, understand, and interpret scientific and medical publications
  
- Strong quantitative, financial modeling, forecasting, and Excel skills
