Learn more about our benefits. ## Role Overview As a Manufacturing Engineer, you are responsible for developing and maintaining methods, operating sequences, and processes in the fabrication of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies. You will work closely with other engineering functions to coordinate the release of product improvements and new products, and you will use engineering principles to estimate and reduce manufacturing costs, improve product quality, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements. Your expertise in lean principles, automation, and continuous improvement will be instrumental in driving operational excellence and achieving higher levels of productivity and cost-effectiveness. You will develop and use test procedures, evaluate test results, and assess work methods, procedures, and policies to identify root cause issues and solutions that ensure operational success. ## Key Responsibilities - Develop, implement, and maintain methods, operation sequences, and processes in the fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies. - Interface with other engineering functions to coordinate the release of product improvements and/or new products. Launches, releases, approves, and implements or issues engineering change requests as required to support design engineering and Operations with new and existing products. - Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements. Use DFx principles to reduce manufacturing and/or product costs and improve delivered product quality. - Develop and use test procedures, including assisting with the definition of test specifications with design/software engineering. May work with test engineering on the design and development of test fixtures and coordinate test fixture sourcing activities. - Gather operation and test data, evaluate results, and take corrective or continuous improvement actions. - Evaluate work methods, procedures, and policies. Participate in the development and maintenance of new and existing business processes; update as necessary to ensure current practices are documented. - Determine root cause and corrective action analysis for issues during assembly and/or test of systems; provide failure analysis reports as required. - Perform Process Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (PFMEA) when working with New Product Development. ## Functional Knowledge - Demonstrates expanded conceptual knowledge in own discipline and broadens capabilities. ## Business Expertise - Understands key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. ## Leadership - No supervisory responsibilities but provides informal guidance to new team members. ## Problem Solving - Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents. ## Impact - Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team; works within guidelines and policies. ## Interpersonal Skills - Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations. ## Additional Information **Time Type:** Full time **Employee Type:** Assignee / Regular **Travel:** Yes, 10% of the time **Relocation Eligible:** No Applied Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
