Role Overview
The position reports to the Team Leader, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Regional Head of Operations located in Singapore. The role will work closely with the Trading department and Cargo Operations to provide day-to-day support for cargo trading activities.
The role involves providing day-to-day operations support to a team of Operators and Traders. The individual coordinates all operational aspects of the gasoline trading book, ensuring that physical trades are executed accurately and cost-effectively in accordance with contractual terms.
Additionally, the individual assesses operational and business risks, proactively taking steps to minimize impacts that could impede the Company/Group’s success or growth and escalating significant risks for further mitigation. The incumbent actively fosters a positive, respectful, professional, and motivated team culture.
The role provides exposure to cargo operations across vessels of all sizes, including time-chartered and spot-chartered vessels operating in global trade. The incumbent oversees and coordinates all post-deal trading activities to ensure smooth contract execution and is responsible for timely and accurate updating of profiles and loss in the system.
Main Responsibilities
- Review and comment on trading contracts and tenders, manage financial exposures, and efficiently execute obligations governed by Incoterms and oil major GT&Cs. Understand the legal framework supporting oil contracts, interpret a charter party against the oil contract, and coordinate these elements accurately and efficiently.
- Leverage understanding of essential ship operations and terminology to ensure satisfactory commercial operation of barges and maritime transport. Apply knowledge of relevant petroleum product specifications, analytical methods, laboratory precision, and inspection procedures. Understand the key types of financial instruments, their uses, and the importance of LOIs and shipping documents within the process.
- Maintain accurate records of operational positions (vessels, storage, qualities/blends, product movements), cost accruals, and allocations.
- Ensure relevant duties, taxation, compliance, customs import/export, and excise tax obligations are diligently observed, monitored, and reported.
- Adhere to System Management Policy through live dashboards, periodic reporting, and desk audits.
- Serve as a point of contact for internal and external issues, participating in team meetings to escalate and resolve operational concerns.
- Foster strong relationships with industry peers and third-party service providers, manage invoices, and ensure compliance with Rate Agreements.
- Work ethically and in compliance with industry standards, promptly escalating any instances of non-compliance to the Team Leader and/or Regional Manager.
