Posted 2026-02-04; applications close 2026-04-05. **Apply**: https://careers.micron.com/careers/job/39975599 Posted 2mo ago. ## Role details ## Job Summary As a Layout Engineer, you will apply strong industrial engineering concepts and logical problem-solving to optimize production equipment layouts that maximize factory output. You will serve as the connection point between Manufacturing, Engineering, and Facilities by maintaining accurate layout documentation, supporting tool-installation planning, and ensuring that all proposed layouts are feasible within the factory’s technical and schedule constraints. ## Main Responsibilities - Optimize production equipment layouts by applying industrial engineering principles to improve material flow, footprint efficiency, and overall factory output. - Maintain accurate and up-to-date layout documentation, ensuring that all planned tool installations, relocations, upgrades, and removals are reflected in the ramp-plan layout. - Perform onsite assessments with Facilities and tool owners to validate layout feasibility, verify physical and infrastructure constraints, and ensure proposed layouts reflect operational conditions. - Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Facilities to communicate layout changes, resolve constraints, and ensure alignment throughout planning and execution. - Develop foundational understanding of factory design, cleanroom protocols, and process areas to support effective layout planning and operational readiness. - Plan and manage tool movement. ## Other Responsibilities - Support scenario studies to meet strategic objectives. - Deploy appropriate AI-driven solutions to achieve effective and efficient outcomes for self and teams. ## Job Requirements / Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or related discipline. - Proficiency in M365 Apps such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint, among others. - Strong critical-thinking skills, with the ability to analyze constraints, evaluate trade-offs, and support data-driven decision-making in layout planning. - Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset to drive actions and alignment with cross-functional stakeholders. - Highly motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and rapidly changing environment. - Ability to multi-task and organize work systematically in meeting deadlines without compromising on quality. - Physically able to work inside a cleanroom environment, including wearing full cleanroom attire (smock, hood, gloves, boots) and performing on-site checks such as layout validations and equipment-area walkthroughs. - Demonstrated at least 2 years of leadership experience, such as in university or other co-curricular activities. - Prior programming work (inclusive of vibe coding using free Gen AI tools). - Hands-on experience with AI tools in academic or work environments (Chatbot, Agentic AI, Automation, etc.). - Internship or experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus. - Interest in and knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron is preferred. ## Embody Micron’s Core Values - People – Respect, develop, and empower others - Innovation – Drive continuous improvement and breakthrough thinking - Tenacity – Show grit and determination - Collaboration – Build trust and foster teamwork - Customer Focus – Deliver excellence and value Performs design and development engineering assignments related to activities for equipment and systems layouts in plant, office, and production facilities.
