## About the Role

Our Software Engineer internship is an intensive 10-week experience at Jump Trading's Sydney (or Singapore) office. You will be working with the team that helps the business make sense of data. You will sharpen your Python skills through mentorship provided by our Software Engineers, by researching, analyzing and building high-impact solutions and products that connect data better with the daily trading environment. At Jump, you will experience a healthy work-life balance, a casual environment, and a flat management structure. Our internship program is the primary way we identify top young talent, and it’s a proven path for earning full-time opportunities at Jump.

## What You’ll Do

  
- Work with experienced engineers and receive ongoing feedback and coaching from a dedicated mentor throughout the summer.
  
- Use Python programming skills to build high-impact products, helping Jump tackle exciting new initiatives and streamline every part of the trade cycle.
  
- Participate in collecting and analyzing datasets to identify patterns and gain insights, discovering new opportunities and solutions.
  
- Take on projects involving production code and gain experience with our full-cycle development, testing, and release process.
  
- Other duties as assigned or needed.

## Skills & Qualifications

### Required

  
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely-related field
  
- Experience using Python to investigate, interpret, and improve open-ended scenarios
  
- Exposure to tools such as Pandas, NumPy, PyCharm
  
- Experience working with Linux/UNIX OS, including advanced commands and shell scripts
  
- Understanding of networking concepts such as routing, multicast, Ethernet
  
- Curiosity about trading and computer technology, with a rigorous, detail-oriented approach
  
- Desire to make an impact in a collaborative, cross-team environment with a positive can-do attitude
  
- Ability to operate independently and communicate clearly in a fast-paced live-trading environment
  
- Reliable and predictable availability

### Nice to Have

  
- Past internship or job experience in a software engineering role
