## What you will do

As a consultant in our two-year Operations Excellence Program (OEP), you will work on client engagements in the same way as other McKinsey consultants. You will actively participate in problem solving for clients, including identifying issues, forming hypotheses, designing and conducting analyses, and synthesizing conclusions into recommendations. You will develop leading operations and consulting skills primarily through on-the-job coaching, complemented by the OEP’s structured capability-building program.

The OEP position marks the start of a rewarding, challenging, and flexible career with McKinsey and the Operations practice. In your first years, you will work on multiple client engagements across industries and operations service lines, gaining the knowledge and expertise to help companies achieve operational excellence. You will dedicate significant time to functional training and knowledge development under the guidance of operations experts, following a curriculum based on operations excellence themes. You will receive advanced training in one of six areas: manufacturing, product development, purchasing, service operations, supply chain management, or capital excellence. Upon completion, successful consultants join our global group of operations experts. OEP graduates can be found at all levels of the firm, from associate to partner.

You’ll be based in one of our European offices as part of the Operations Practice, which combines strategic thinking with hands-on practicality to help clients achieve operational excellence. ## Your background

  
- Master’s degree and exceptional academic record
  
- Initial experience in an operational topic (e.g., lean manufacturing or lean services, Six Sigma, Industry 4.0, process optimization, product development, or purchasing)
  
- Proven leadership experience in work or extracurricular activities
  
- Willingness and ability to undertake European assignments during the work week
  
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
  
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and the local office language
