## Overview

Bell Labs is a worldwide research and development community focused on key technologies for telecommunications. It is internationally renowned as the birthplace of modern information theory, the transistor, the laser, and the UNIX operating system. Today we are working on the network of 2020. In this new era of interconnected things, people matter more than ever. The Social & Responsible AI team answers questions related to ethical considerations, societal impacts, and responsible practices in the development and deployment of AI. The team provides a vibrant multidisciplinary research environment with close links to top academics.
