The role involves full-time work within the SAP Business AI unit while pursuing a PhD at the National University of Singapore (NUS). You will conduct cutting-edge research in generative AI and machine learning, publish findings in top conferences and journals, and gain industry exposure by collaborating with data scientists and developers to embed AI/ML advancements into SAP products. Successful candidates must be accepted into the NUS PhD program. ## Role You will be at the forefront of AI research, focusing on topics informed by real industry problems, including AI agents based on large language models (LLMs) and vision models, robust LLM-based evaluation, resilient multimodal retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), document AI, multimodal LLMs for tabular AI, and synthetic data for anomaly detection. Your research will be supervised by a SAP mentor and an academic supervisor at NUS. While the emphasis is on research and completing your PhD, you will gain industry exposure by working on projects with our data scientists and engineers to incorporate the latest AI/ML advancements into SAP software products. This opportunity combines academic pursuit with practical experience, offering insight into the real-world impact of your research. ## Responsibilities - Push the frontiers of what is possible in AI within an SAP-defined research project. - Explore, understand, and implement recent research approaches; identify ways to improve them. - Understand business processes and assess the business relevance of AI solutions. - Create excellence in research results quality and system scalability. - Communicate the relevance of implemented systems and results in a clear, visual manner. - Collaborate closely with data science and engineering teams to transfer research results into the product code base. - Operate effectively in global teams across different time zones. - Rapidly immerse in new topics, terminology, and development tasks. - Fulfill all academic requirements and complete the PhD on time. ## Requirements & Qualifications - Undergraduate or master's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or equivalent fields. - Acceptance to the NUS PhD program. - Experience with machine learning and deep learning software packages and frameworks. - Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, or Scala. - Experience with Large Language Models, Generative Pre-trained Transformer models, foundational models, etc. - Strong desire to overcome obstacles and produce work that benefits SAP's customers. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. - Optional: Publication track record in deep learning and machine learning. - Operational knowledge of Linux distributions. - Familiar with Agile/Scrum methodologies. ## About SAP SAP innovations help more than 400,000 customers worldwide work together more efficiently and use business insights more effectively.
