About the Programme

Get a taste of working in a fast-paced, tech-led environment in our London office. Our intern programme provides the opportunity to work directly with our Development teams on projects supporting areas such as Finance, Operations, Risk, Trading, and Portfolio Management.

During your internship, you will gain valuable hands-on experience with a variety of technologies and disciplines including DevOps, data engineering, cyber security, web development, business intelligence, software engineering, and stream processing.

What We Are Looking For

This internship is ideal for an innovative problem solver who demonstrates inventive and creative use of technology. Successful participants may have the opportunity to return full-time as a graduate after completing their studies.

We do not specifically require a Computer Science degree but seek candidates who have actively developed technical and programming skills through previous internships, hackathon involvement, or passion projects.

We also value exceptional academic achievement along with strong communication and collaboration skills.

We believe the right candidate is more than just a technical expert; we place real value on teamwork, entrepreneurialism, and effective communication. This programme is not suited for those who prefer to work quietly behind a desk.

Note: The programme is open to first-year students as well as penultimate-year students.

What’s Involved?

During the internship, you will enhance your software and programming skills while building an understanding of our business and financial markets. You will join a cutting-edge team with the opportunity to take on as much responsibility and autonomy as you can handle.

Intern projects are selected collaboratively. The Technology team proposes project ideas that could benefit the team or the wider business, and senior managers choose those with the most significant impact. You will typically work in pairs, collaborating directly with the team that proposed the project.

Throughout your internship, you will receive comprehensive support including an initial induction, personalized mentoring, regular seminars with senior managers and key staff, social events, and opportunities to participate in the firm’s charitable activities. At the end of your internship, you will present your project to the Technology team.

Example Projects

1. Integrating AI tools into bespoke systems.
2. Creating a user interface to visualise and explore connections across our estate.
3. Building alert tooling.
