Viasat

Viasat runs internship programs on three separate regional calendars:

• United States: 10-12 weeks, running May-August or June-September
• Europe: 6 months, with start dates set by each university's term calendar
• India: two tracks – 10-12 weeks for final-semester students (January-April), and 8-10 weeks over the summer (May-July)

All are paid, spanning software, cloud, cybersecurity, systems and electrical engineering, data science, and business functions. A candidate eligible for more than one region is tracking three distinct start-date windows rather than a single one, and the six-month European placement is a materially larger time commitment to plan around than either the US or India track.

Viasat's three ViaSat-3 satellites are each designed to deliver more than 1 terabit per second of throughput. The third and final satellite launched 29 April 2026 and is due to enter service in August or September 2026, completing the constellation. Alongside that commercial broadband business, Viasat also holds an active defense mandate: in 2026 the U.S. Space Force's Space Systems Command selected Viasat to build a dual-band mini-GEO satellite under the Protected Tactical SATCOM-Global program, part of a family of awards with a $4 billion IDIQ ceiling. An early-career engineer here works across two distinct product lines at once, commercial GEO broadband and hardened military communications, rather than the single line most peers run.
