Traversal

Three factors set Traversal apart from a typical early-stage AI startup:

• $48 million in seed and Series A funding, led by Sequoia Capital and Kleiner Perkins, closed in June 2025
• A further strategic investment and operational partnership with American Express, announced 4 March 2026, bringing total funding to roughly $53 million
• Two of the company's four co-founders, Anish Agarwal and Raaz Dwivedi, hold faculty positions at Columbia University and Cornell Tech respectively, and built the company out of their own research into causal machine learning

A funded, enterprise-validated startup carries less of the runway risk that typically comes with a two-year-old company, which matters when weighing an early offer here against a larger, more established employer. The team is still small enough that a hire takes on broad, undefined scope from day one rather than a narrow specialist track.

Not right now. Traversal has no internship or graduate roles listed today; new postings appear here as the firm opens them.

Applications to Traversal go through the firm's own careers site, one application per posting, each expecting a CV and cover letter written for that role.
