S&W

S&W launched as an independent firm on 31 March 2025, spun out of Evelyn Partners' Professional Services division in a deal backed by the private equity firm Apax Partners. It continues the name and practice of Smith & Williamson, founded in 1881, and at launch ranked as a top-ten UK accountancy business by revenue, with roughly 1,800 employees and 120-plus partners across 15 UK and Irish offices. Both S&W and Evelyn Partners describe the platform's mandate as continued growth through acquisition on top of organic expansion.

Sixteen months into independent life, S&W's headcount, partner count, and office footprint are moving numbers rather than a settled structure. That points to broader early responsibility as the platform scales, but also a shorter track record than an established mid-market rival to judge any specific program against.
