• a problem-solving test, played inside a Roblox experience, followed by a short written explanation of the approach taken
• a decision-making test, also built as a Roblox experience, with workplace scenarios scored on the most and least effective course of action
• a coding assessment sent via CodeSignal for technical applicants, typically two algorithmic problems under a one-hour timed window

Candidates who clear the assessments move into recruiter and team interviews. Because the assessment is the first gate and runs in-browser under proctoring (no IDE, no external resources), prep is a discrete block of work — the firm publishes a free Kaiju Cats practice experience to rehearse the problem-solving format before the live attempt rather than during it.

Each track lands on the same platform that, per the firm's Q2 2025 financial results, reaches hundreds of millions of daily users. A candidate weighing the three is choosing more by domain — production engineering, generalist new-grad, or research track — than by ladder, since all three start on shipping work at full platform scale.

Roblox is a public consumer platform that ran on roughly $3.6 billion of 2024 revenue with about 2,400 employees, and pairs operations at consumer scale with an in-house AI research surface — its Roblox Cube generative-3D foundation model was open-sourced in 2025. Three things are unusual for the category: assessments built and played inside the firm's own product, a separate PhD-targeted track ("Theory Goes Live"), and a publicly stated goal of scaling toward a billion users and ~10% of the gaming market. For an applicant choosing between consumer-tech employers, that places early work near the firm's platform-research and generative-AI bets rather than service-tier engineering.
