Internship and graduate hiring at Lightning AI
What makes Lightning AI distinctive among AI infrastructure companies for early-career applicants?
Lightning AI is the company behind the open-source PyTorch Lightning framework, which William Falcon began building in 2015. On 21 January 2026 it completed a merger with Voltage Park that valued the combined company at over $2.5 billion with roughly $500 million in annual recurring revenue, Forbes reported, pairing the software platform with Voltage Park's 35,000 NVIDIA GPUs across six U.S. data centers. Falcon remains CEO of the combined company, with former Voltage Park CEO Ozan Kaya as president. The deal pairs a developer-facing software platform with owned GPU infrastructure rather than rented cloud compute, so an early-career engineer here can end up working anywhere from the open-source framework layer to the underlying data-center hardware, a wider stack than a pure software shop offers.
