HKEX's Early Careers portal groups its early-careers offer into two tiers:

• Graduate Associate Programme — a 24-month rotation across three streams: Business Advancement (Markets, Operations, Finance, Group Strategy, Platform & Market Structure Development), Regulatory Excellence (Listing, Group Risk Management, Group Compliance, Group Internal Audit), and Technology Enablement (Information Technology and Operations — Software Engineering, Infrastructure, Architecture, AI, Data, Cyber Security)
• Summer Internship Programme — a 10-week placement running between June and August, open to applications across 13 business divisions including Corporate Communications, Finance, Group Strategy, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Information Technology, Legal & Secretarial Services, Listing, Markets, Operations, Platform & Market Structure Development, Risk & Compliance, and Sustainability

Successful summer interns are eligible for a return offer onto the Graduate Associate Programme, so a single 10-week placement is the canonical entry point into a 24-month graduate seat. Candidates choosing between an exchange-side stream (Regulatory Excellence sits inside the listings and compliance functions of the venue itself) and a bank-side seat elsewhere are usually making that division-level choice at the internship stage, not the graduate stage.

HKEX's Early Careers page publishes the following windows for the next cycle:

• Graduate Associate Programme — applications open September 2026
• Summer Internship Programme (Hong Kong) — placement runs June through August, with a maximum employment period of 10 weeks
• Summer Internship Programme (Shenzhen, Shanghai, Singapore) — opens during HKEX's annual Spring recruitment cycle, with flexible onboarding arrangements based on students' summer break schedules

These cycles split into two distinct application waves — the mainland-China and Singapore offices on the Spring window, the Hong Kong Summer Internship and the Graduate Associate Programme on the autumn window. A candidate targeting HKEX in more than one geography is therefore working against two separate timelines, not a single consolidated open, and missing the Spring cycle closes the Shenzhen, Shanghai and Singapore intakes for a full year.
