Garmin's college internships come in two formats — full-time summer internships and part-time, year-round internships — with most roles based at the company's Olathe, Kansas headquarters and the rest at other US and Canadian sites. They are paid and include relocation housing for those who qualify plus a one-to-one mentor; Vault placed Garmin's engineering internships in its 2026 top five. Garmin also runs separate early-career tracks for trades, technicians and a high-school-to-workforce path. Because most internships sit at the single Olathe campus, location is a real constraint: the full-time summer intake in particular is a relocation decision as much as an application, which is why paid housing is part of the offer.

Garmin runs a vertically integrated model — it designs, manufactures, distributes and supports its own products in-house rather than outsourcing — across five markets: fitness, outdoor, aviation, marine and automotive. It employs over 23,000 associates in 37 countries, and its headquarters is in Olathe, Kansas. For an early-career engineer or technician the in-house manufacturing is the differentiator: hardware, firmware and production sit under one company, so an entry-level role can follow a product from design toward the line rather than a single outsourced slice. The five distinct markets also mean the same job title can mean very different work — aviation avionics and fitness wearables are separate worlds — so the segment matters as much as the role.
