In May 2026 Coursera (NYSE: COUR) completed a combination with Udemy, forming a skills platform spanning roughly 290 million learners and 95,000 instructors — a scale also reported by Inside Higher Ed. The company has been publicly listed since its March 2021 IPO and is, unusually for a listed tech firm, both a Certified B Corporation and a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation — a 2021 charter change that legally binds it to a stated public-benefit mission alongside shareholder returns, verified by B Lab. It runs a distributed "workspace choice" model: employees work from home, a co-working space, or one of its main offices in Mountain View, London, Gurgaon and Toronto, rather than from a single campus. For someone early in their career, this frames the trade-off — a recently enlarged, integration-stage public company whose teams are spread across four global hubs and whose roles can be office-light, which rewards comfort with remote-first collaboration and post-merger change over the predictability of a fixed campus and a settled organisation.
