How Canonical interviews
Canonical's hiring process page sets out three stages: an assessment stage with a written interview and a psychometric General Intelligence Assessment (plus a technical assessment for some roles), then technical and talent interviews, then late-stage interviews with the hiring manager and senior stakeholders before an offer. The Register's 2022 report on the process lists the same order: a written interview, an aptitude and personality assessment, culture, HR and peer interviews with technical assessments, then hiring-manager and senior-lead interviews.
Because the written interview and tests come before any interview with potential colleagues, the effort is front-loaded: an applicant does most of the writing and testing before speaking to anyone on the team.
