• Founded by Lorenz Meier, creator of the open-source PX4 flight-control software now used across much of the commercial and defense drone industry; Auterion describes its mission as sustaining that open-source ecosystem rather than replacing it.
• Skynode S and Skynode X mission computers were added to the US Department of Defense's Blue UAS Cleared List in May 2025, the list that gates which drone components federal agencies can procure.
• More than 100,000 Skynode units are under contract as of 2026, consistent with a $50 million Pentagon-funded contract for 33,000 units to Ukraine reported in mid-2025.

For an engineering hire, that combination means production code and hardware already shipping at wartime volume rather than in pilot programmes, on a stack whose lineage still runs through the open-source project much of the industry standardised on.
