Arm runs three Emerging Talent tracks, structured around degree pathway:

• Apprenticeships (UK only, Sheffield, Manchester, and Cambridge offices): Levels 4 to 6 including degree apprenticeships, a 20% academic / 80% on-the-job split, typically requiring three A-levels or equivalent at entry.
• Internships: around 380 interns each year across 20 locations in 10 countries — Canada, China, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan, the UK, and the US.
• Graduates: a two-year program across 21 locations in 11 countries, open to bachelor's, master's, and PhD candidates, with a UK-hosted annual Global Graduate Conference and twice-yearly compensation reviews.

For a candidate with right-to-work in the UK, the apprenticeship and graduate tracks are functionally substitutable degree-pathway choices. For an international applicant without UK status the apprenticeship is closed, but the graduate program across 11 countries opens a wider geographic choice — sponsorship eligibility therefore determines which track is actually available before fit.

Arm's Emerging Talent FAQ states that "if you don't currently hold the right to work in the UK, Arm is authorised to sponsor individuals," with eligibility varying by visa type and the firm directing candidates to UK Visas and Immigration for type-specific requirements. The UK apprenticeship track sits outside this scope and is not sponsored. For non-UK locations the firm does not publish a single sponsorship statement; visa policy follows the local job description on the careers portal. A candidate without UK work rights should treat the UK graduate or internship route as a sponsorship gate cleared at the firm level — and the apprenticeship as effectively closed — and check each specific non-UK role description for its local position.

The firm's Emerging Talent FAQ gives application windows by region and program:

• Interns and graduates (India): applications open in July and November.
• UK apprenticeships: applications open in February.

Individual role deadlines are set inside each job description on the careers portal. For a UK or European candidate, the September opening coincides with the broader autumn graduate-recruiting window, so an Arm application is usually one of several running in parallel; an India-based candidate has a second annual entry point in November that the western cycle does not offer, but needs to track two openings rather than one.

Arm's careers homepage describes a 9,000-person company whose architecture sits in "virtually all modern smartphones" and increasingly in data-center AI workloads; independent reporting and Wikipedia corroborate that more than 280 billion Arm-based chips have shipped since 1990. The firm historically licensed IP rather than manufacturing finished silicon, and in March 2026 it shipped its first complete production chip (the AGI CPU), opening a new hardware-engineering track alongside the existing IP business. For an early-career engineer, the implication is unusual scale-of-deployment leverage: work done at the architecture or IP level reaches almost every smartphone and a growing share of hyperscaler compute, and the firm's recent move into shipped silicon expands the kinds of hardware-engineering roles available rather than narrowing them.
